Fujitsu announced to develop its production control system by using Blockchain technology, in which it uses more than 1 computer to receive and save data simultaneously. This production control system was developed to print QR code onto the products, which is used to trace the production process of each unit of product. It is well expected to increase the traceability of each unit production on a product line that has many kinds or large quantity of products.

Fujitsu started a demonstration test of this production control system at its plant in Augsburg, Germany, and planned to present it to other prospects this June. To increase its credibility and be ready for practicality in December, Fujitsu would use the system in other plants and market to other companies. The QR code printed directly onto the product occurred in cooperation with the printing maker.

This production control system uses “IOTA” Cryptocurrency technology, which was based on Blockchain technology. IOTA is distinctive in maintaining the speed of processing; despite of a lot of data, it can rapidly process the data with little decline of speed. Therefore, it can be used to manage factory data that needs frequent updating. It is suitable for IoT (Internet of Things) and M2M (Machine to Machine) applications.

The system would read the QR code printed on products of a product line, then send the data to Blockchain management system. Such data as product number or temperature needed for each product would be processed. Therefore, it is possible to have different kinds of products on the same product line.

Collaborated with robots and machine tools, the system could be used to produce mass customization. If there is a problem after shipment, it could identify parts that are considered to be the cause and recall them effortlessly.

With this application, Blockchain technology is not only worth to Cryptocurrency, but also is worthwhile to see how such processing capability would be used with IoT. It is expected to be used to reduce costs and increase the credibility of production.
