Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in December and the expected total number for 2023.

Total car production

The December production reached at 133,621 units. It decreased 15.75% Year-on-Year (YoY) and decreased 18.19% from November 2023 as 163,337 units. Produced for domestic use decreased 29.94% (YoY) and produced for export decreased 3.70% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export decreased 7.94% (YoY) The production number this year totaled 1,841,663 units, drop 2.22% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 133,621 vehicles in December 2023, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 50,099 units, 7.94% decrease (YoY) 
     - Internal Combustion Engine at 35,086 units, 22.45% decrease (YoY)
     - Battery Electric Vehicle at 6 units
     - Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 216 units, 81.30% decrease (YoY)
     - Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 14,791 units, 84.38% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 2 units, 
- Truck at 83,520 units, 19.83% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 80,489 units, 21.37% decrease (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,031 units, 66.36% increase (YoY)

Car production for export

In December 2023, the car production for export totaled 82,592 units, representing 61.81% of the total production, decreasing 3.70% (YoY)

- 26,947 passenger cars, down 25.96% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 66,425 units, 6.38% decrease (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In December 2023, there were 51,029 units produced for domestic use, representing 38.19% of the whole production or a decrease of 29.94% (YoY)

- 22,944 passenger cars, 16.24% decrease (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 25,052 units, 42.57% decrease (YoY)
