In October 2024, Thailand produced a total of 118,842 cars, a decrease of 25.13% from the 158,819 units produced in October 2023. The decline was driven by a 7.00% decrease in exports and a substantial 51.70% decrease in domestic sales.

November 25, 2024 - Mr. Suparat Sirisuwanangkura, Honorary Chairman of the Automotive Industry Club, and Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the following vehicle production figures for October 2024:

Total car production

The total number of vehicles produced in October 2024 was 118,842 units, a decrease of 25.13% from the 158,819 units produced in October 2023 and a decrease of 2.81% from the 122,277 units produced in September 2024.

From January to October 2024, the total vehicle production amounted to 1,246,868 units, a decrease of 19.28% compared to the same period in 2023.

Total production of 118,842 vehicles in October 2024, composed of:

- Passenger cars: 47,481 units, 17.07% decrease (YoY) 

• Internal Combustion Engine (ICE): 32,607 units, down 22.49% 
• Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV): 688 units, an increase of 34,300% 
• Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV): 500 units, showing a 8.76% decrease
• Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): 13,686 units, marking a 6.48% decrease (YoY)

- Buses under 10 tons and over 10 tons were not produced in October 2024. From January to October 2024, a total of 10 units were produced, a decrease of 90.74% compared to last year.
- Trucks: 71,361 units, down 29.67% (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup trucks: 70,514 units, down 27.83% (YoY)
- Pickup trucks less than 5 tons – over 10 tons: 847 units, declined 77.52% (YoY)

Car production for export

In October 2024, the car production for export totaled 87,741 units, representing 73.83% of the total production, a decrease of 7.00% (YoY)

- Passenger cars produced for export totaled 27,187 units, a decrease of 4.99% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 60,554 units, down 7.87% (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In October 2024, there were 31,101 units produced for domestic use, representing 26.17% of the whole production, as well as a decrease of 51.70% (YoY)

- The production of passenger cars for domestic sales was 20,294 units, a decrease of 29.14% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 9,9601 units, 68.85% decrease (YoY)
- Buses under 10 tons and over 10 tons were not produced in October 2024. 
-  Pickup trucks at 847 units, declined 77.52% (YoY)
