Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in September and the expected total number for 2023.

Total car production

The September production reached at 164,093 units. It decreased 8.45% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 8.92% from August 2023 as 150,657 units. Produced for domestic use decreased 17.87% (YoY) and produced for export decreased 1.97% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export increased 20.44% (YoY) The production number this year totaled 1,385,971 units, rising 1.61% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 164,093 vehicles in September 2023, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 58,126 units, 5.44% decrease (YoY) 
     - Internal Combustion Engine at 43,537 units, 19.24% decrease (YoY)
     - Battery Electric Vehicle at 1 units
     - Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 455 units, 14.63% decrease (YoY)
     - Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 14,133 units, 101.15% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 4 units, 66.67% increase (YoY)
- Truck at 105,963 units, 10.02% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 102,180 units, 10.09% decrease (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,783 units, 7.84% decrease (YoY)

Car production for export

In September 2023, the car production for export totaled 104,096 units, representing 63.44% of the total production, decreasing 1.97% (YoY)

- 26,934 passenger cars, down 20.44% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 77,162 units, 6.67% increase (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In September 2023, there were 59,997 units produced for domestic use, representing 36.56% of the whole production or a decrease of 17.87% (YoY)

- 31,192 passenger cars, 12.95% increase (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 25,018 units, 39.44% decrease (YoY)
