Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in May and the expected total number for 2022.

Total car production

The May production reached at 129,231 units. It decreased 7.80% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 9.72% from April 2022 as 117,786 units. Produced for domestic use increased 7.66% (YoY) and Produced for export decreased 19% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export decreased 23.05% (YoY) The production number of this year totaled 727,095 units, rising 2.36% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 129,231 vehicles in May 2022, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 40,147 units, 9.58% decrease (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at zero, 0% decrease (YoY)
- Truck at 89,084 units, 6.98% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 85,736 units, 7.62% decrease (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,348 units, 13.22% increase (YoY)

Car production for export

In May 2022, the car production for export totaled 65,839 units, representing 50.95% of the total production, decreasing 19% (YoY)

- 13,925 passenger cars, down 23.05% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 51,914 units, 17.84% decrease (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In May 2022, there were 63,392 units produced for domestic use, representing 49.05% of the whole production or an increase of 7.66% (YoY)

- 26,222 passenger cars, down 0.31% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 33,822 units, 14.17% increase (YoY)
