Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in April 2022
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in April 2022 totaled 4,050 units, decreasing 55% (MoM), accounting for 5.8% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 3,876 units, comprising 3,253 HEVs and 623 PHEVs, an increase of 19% (YoY) and 8% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 174 units, a decrease of 74% (MoM) and rising of 39% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in April 2022 totaled 69,768 units, an increase of 0.4% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 65,718 units, accounting for 94% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 1%

In April 2022, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 397 units, a decrease of 74% (MoM), accounting for 0.3% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 47 HEVs and the growth rate continued to decline. This is the result from the performance and fuel consumption is not different from the ICE car, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 350 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 21% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 47 units, decreasing 65% (YoY) and the number same from 47 units in the previous month.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 350 units, an increase of 21% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 743 BEV motorcycles were registered.
The new registration for motorcycles in April 2022 totaled 137,965 units, a decrease of 5% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 137,568 units, accounting for 99.7% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 5%
