Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in August and the expected total number for 2022.

Total car production

The August production reached at 171,731 units. It increased 64.90% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 20.13% from July 2022 as 142,958 units. Produced for domestic use increased 110.71% (YoY) and Produced for export decreased 34.03% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export decreased 13.36% (YoY) The production number of this year totaled 1,184,800 units, rising 10.53% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 171,731 vehicles in August 2022, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 53,573 units, 0.76% decrease (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 0 units
- Truck at 118,158 units, 87.89% increase (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 114,128 units, 90.64% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 4,030 units, 33.40% increase (YoY)

Car production for export

In August 2022, the car production for export totaled 83,398 units, representing 48.56% of the total production, increasing 34.03% (YoY)

- 17,152 passenger cars, down 13.36% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 66,246 units, 56.14% increase (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In August 2022, there were 88,333 units produced for domestic use, representing 51.44% of the whole production or an increase of 110.71% (YoY)

- 36,421 passenger cars, increase 69.70% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 47,882 units, 174.58% increase (YoY)
