Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in March and the expected total number for 2022.

Total car production

The March production reached at 172,671 units. It increased 6.25% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 10.93% from February 2022 as 155,660 units. Produced for domestic use increased 32.16% (YoY) and Produced for export decreased 11.44% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export decreased 41.70% (YoY) The production number of this year totaled 480,078 units, rising 3.06% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 172,671 vehicles in March 2022, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 49,331 units, 14.01% decrease (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at zero, 100% decrease (YoY)
- Truck at 123,340 units, 17.31% increase (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 119,917 units, 17.54% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,423 units, 9.54% increase (YoY)

Car production for export

In March 2022, the car production for export totaled 85,538 units, representing 49.54% of the total production, decreasing 11.44% (YoY)

- 15,628 passenger cars, down 41.70% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 69,910 units, 0.19% increase (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In March 2022, there were 87,133 units produced for domestic use, representing 50.46% of the whole production or an increase of 32.16% (YoY)

- 33,703 passenger cars, down 10.29% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 50,007 units, 55.09% increase (YoY)
