Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in August and the expected total number for 2023.

Total car production

The August production reached at 150,657 units. It decreased 12.27% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 0.63% from July 2023 as 149,709 units. Produced for domestic use decreased 26.20% (YoY) and produced for export increased 1.07% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export increased 1.95% (YoY) The production number this year totaled 1,221,878 units, rising 3.13% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 150,657 vehicles in August 2023, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 51,299 units, 4.24% decrease (YoY) 
     - Internal Combustion Engine at 37,656 units, 20.03% decrease (YoY)
     - Battery Electric Vehicle at 2 units
     - Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 651 units, 25% decrease (YoY)
     - Hybrid Electric Vehicle at 12,990 units, 131.18% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 12 units
- Truck at 99,346 units, 15.92% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 95,538 units, 16.29% decrease (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 3,808 units, 5.51% decrease (YoY)

Car production for export

In August 2023, the car production for export totaled 88,661 units, representing 58.85% of the total production, increasing 1.07% (YoY)

- 21,061 passenger cars, up 1.95% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 67,600 units, 2.04%% increase (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In August 2023, there were 61,996 units produced for domestic use, representing 41.15% of the whole production or a decrease of 26.20% (YoY)

- 30,238 passenger cars, 5.78% decrease (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 27,938 units, 41.65% decrease (YoY)
