Car Production in January 2023 totaled 162,327 units.
Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in January and the expected total number for 2023.
Total car production
The January production reached at 162,327 units. It increased 6.97% Year-on-Year (YoY) and decreased 0.48% from December 2022 as 158,606 units. Produced for export and domestic sales increased 32.57% and 0.69% respectively, and domestic sales of pick-up trucks increased 1.15% from January last year
Total production of 162,327 vehicles in January 2023, composed of:
- Passenger car production at 56,624 units, 25.18% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 12 units
- Truck at 105,691 units, 0.77% decrease (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 103,348 units, 0.04% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 2,343 units, 26.87% decrease (YoY)
Car production for export
In January 2023, the car production for export totaled 91,532 units, representing 57.99% of the total production, increasing 7.43% (YoY)
- 27,417 passenger cars, up 32.57% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 64,115 units, 0.63% decrease (YoY)
Car production for domestic use
In January 2023, there were 66,312 units produced for domestic use, representing 42.01% of the whole production or an decrease of 0.35% (YoY)
- 24,724 passenger cars, up 0.69% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 39,233 units, 1.15% increase (YoY)
