Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Vice-Chairman and the spokesman for the Automotive Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), in the press conference, revealed the total production for all vehicles in May and the expected total number for 2023.

Total car production

The May production reached at 150,532 units. It increased 16.48% Year-on-Year (YoY) and increased 27.96% from April 2023 as 117,636 units. Produced for domestic use increased 7.52% (YoY) and produced for export increased 23.46% (YoY). Produced passenger cars for export increased 37.17% (YoY) The production number this year totaled 775,955 units, rising 6.72% from the same period of last year.  

Total production of 150,532 vehicles in May 2023, composed of:

- Passenger car production at 50,891 units, 26.76% increase (YoY)
- Bus under 10 tons and over 10 tons, at 16 units
- Truck at 99,625 units, 11.83% increase (YoY)
- 1 Ton Pickup truck at 96,748 units, 12.84% increase (YoY)
- Pickup truck less than 5 tons – over 10 tons, at 2,877 units, 14.07% decrease (YoY)

Car production for export

In May 2023, the car production for export totaled 89,709 units, representing 59.59% of the total production, increasing 23.46% (YoY)

- 25,594 passenger cars, up 37.17% (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck for export at 64,115 units, 18.72% increase (YoY)

Car production for domestic use

In May 2023, there were 60,823 units produced for domestic use, representing 40.41% of the whole production or a increase of 7.52% (YoY)

- 25,297 passenger cars, 17.72% increase (YoY)
- One-ton pickup truck at 32,633 units, 2.84% increase (YoY)
