Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in April 2023
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in April 2023 totaled 10,889 units, decreasing 34% (MoM), accounting for 16% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 6,946 units, comprising 6,162 HEVs, an increase of 32% (YoY) and 784 PHEVs, a decrease 6% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 3,943 units, a decrease of 40% (MoM) and rising of 886% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in April 2023 totaled 68,894 units, a decrease of 7% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 58,005 units, accounting for 84% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 15%

In April 2023, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 1,274 units, an decrease of 45%% (MoM), accounting for 1% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 36 HEVs, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 1,238 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 49% and almost all of them were personal motorcycles

For HEV, the new registration totaled 36 units, increasing 44% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 62 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,238 units, an increase of 49% (YoY) and the number was less than the previous month which 2,263 BEV motorcycles were registered.
The new registration for motorcycles in April 2023 totaled 137,826 units, an increase of 2% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 136,552 units, accounting for 99% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 2%
