Samut Sakhon: Champions for the largest number of new factories in August 2023

Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry reported that 148 new factories nationwide were licensed in August 2023. The employment increased with more 5,924 people hired whereas the total capital was 19,740.65 million baht, increasing from 11,062.33 baht of the previous month.

Samut Sakhon province where 15 new factories opened, the largest number with the total capital of 583.40 million baht. 

In August 2023, the top three provinces where newly licensed factories are located are as follows: 

1) Samut Sakhon - There were 15 new licensed factories with the total capital of 583.40 million baht. The employment increased with 473 more hires. The total machine power was 8,239.91 hp.

2) Chonburi - There were 14 new licensed factories with the total capital of 2,275.52 million baht. The employment increased with 558 more hires. The total machine power was 12,480.88 hp.

3) Samut Prakan - There were 12 new licensed factories with the total capital of 272.92 million baht. The employment increased with 348 more hires. The total machine power was 9,057.19 hp.

However, when comparing only with the factory capital in the province, the champion was Nongkhai with the total capital of 8,600 million baht. The followings were Chachoengsao at 4,920.38 million baht, Chonburi at 2,275.52 million baht, Pathumthani at 761.86 million baht and Samut Sakhon at 583.40 million baht.
