Japan reports robot shipment volume of Q1/2018

On April 26, Japan Robot Association (JARA) reported Japan’s robot delivery volume and export volume Q1/2018 from the total of 32 companies which indicated that the shipment volume of Q1/2018 had the value of 189,000 million yen, increased from the same period of 2017 by 17.7%, and had continued to grow for 7 consecutive quarters. The export value was ranked the 2nd out of 7 quarters due to the continuously rising demand of the robots in China. The total delivery was at 56,811 units, rising from the same period of the previous year by more than 21% and having been growing for 19 consecutive quarters. The volume of this quarter had broken the record of the delivery volume in every quarter of Japan.    

The delivery consisted of Japan’s delivery of 12,945 units, grew by 25.8% and broke the delivery volume in Japan, of which 4,977 units came from the robots for automobile industry, increased by 34.6%, and 3,326 units came from electronics industry, increased by 14.8%.  

The oversea export was closed at 133,200 million yen, increased from the previous year by 18.8% and had continuously increased for 6 consecutive quarters of which the main export came from China’s 54,700 million yen, increased by 19.7%, accounting for 40% of the total export.

The order volume of this quarter increased from the previous year’s by 24.2% which was equivalent to 218,800 million yen, having been risen for 4 consecutive quarters which was expectedly come from the investments of EV and technology 5G. JARA also expected that the investments would show a strong growth in the future.
