Newly Registered Electric Vehicles (xEV) in June 2023
The Next-Generation Automotive Research Center under Thailand Automotive Institute released the report on the new registration of Electric Vehicles (xEV) and electric motorcycles as the followings:
The new registration for Electric Vehicles (xEV) in May 2023 totaled 16,549 units, increasing 12% (MoM), accounting for 20% of the total newly registered vehicles.
- For Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the new registration totaled 8,504 units, comprising 7,429 HEVs, an increase of 33% (YoY) and 1,075 PHEVs, a decrease 1% (YoY) in order.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 8,045 units, a increase of 40% (MoM) and rising of 796% (YoY), according to the steady increasing public interest in EV.
The new registration for motor vehicles in June 2023 totaled 82,501 units, a decrease of 3% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles totaled 65,952 units, accounting for 80% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate decreased by 15%

In June 2023, the registration for new electric motorcycles totaled 1,699 units, an decrease of 18%% (MoM), accounting for 0.8% of the total newly registered motorcycles.
There were only 64 HEVs, while the BEV is still popular. Although the BEV's volume was not much at 1,635 units, it's likely to continue to grow with an increasing 126%

For HEV, the new registration totaled 64 units, increasing 45% (YoY) and the number was more than the previous month which 55 HEV motorcycles were registered.
- The new registration for BEV totaled 1,635 units, an increase of 126% (YoY) and the number rose from 1,376 units in the previous month.
The new registration for motorcycles in June 2023 totaled 198,476 units, an increase of 3% from the same period of the previous year. There were internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles totaled 196,777 units, accounting for 99% of the total newly registered vehicles and the growth rate increased by 3%
